Udaipur: A City of Lakes, Palaces and Peace

In January, I visited Udaipur and I truly feel that visiting this city during winters was one of the best decisions. The cold weather, peaceful lakes and beautiful views made the entire trip feel magical.
I reached Udaipur at around 4 AM. Because of the darkness, I could not see the city properly at first. But as the sun slowly started rising, the beauty of the city began to reveal itself.

Exploring the Royal Beauty of Udaipur

After getting ready, I left to explore the famous City Palace. On the way, I noticed beautiful lakes and pleasant weather that made Udaipur look even more attractive.
Before visiting the palace, we stopped at Birla Mandir, a beautiful Radha-Krishna temple. Luckily, we reached exactly during the morning aarti. Starting the day with prayers made the experience feel even more special.
Then finally we entered City Palace. The palace was huge and breathtaking. Inside, there were photographs of the royal ancestors, museums displaying old swords, weapons and horse armours used many years ago. Walking through those halls felt like stepping into history.
As I explored further, I saw royal rooms, beautifully designed beds and luxurious interiors that looked straight out of a dream. But for them, it was real life. The most beautiful moment was reaching the top floor of the palace. From there, the view of the lakes and the entire city looked absolutely stunning.
While exiting the palace, I also saw the residence of Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, the 77th custodian of the House of Mewar . The palace guards standing proudly in their uniforms made the whole royal atmosphere feel even more real.

Sunset at Jagmandir

After City Palace, I visited Jagmandir, which is located in the middle of Lake Pichola. We reached there by boat during sunset time, which I think is the best time to visit.
The lake water looked dark blue and crystal clear. We had lunch at a cafe on the island while enjoying the peaceful lake view. Sitting in the middle of the lake during sunset felt calm, and unforgettable.

Sunrise at Bahubali Hills

The second day started very early. At 4 AM, we left for Bahubali Hills to watch the sunrise. After a 20-minute trek, we finally reached the top.
Slowly, the sun started rising and the entire view looked unreal. The Aravali hills, the peaceful lakes and the cool breeze created a scene that felt straight out of a movie. The city looked so calm and beautiful that I did not want to leave that place.

Monsoon Palace and the Beauty of the Hills

After Bahubali Hills, we visited Sajjangarh Fort, also known as the Monsoon Palace. The fort is located high in the Aravali hills and the road to reach there passed through forest areas. After driving uphill for around 10 minutes, we finally reached the fort. The view from the top was breathtaking. Clouds surrounding the hills, the entire city visible from above and the peaceful environment made the place feel magical.

The Taste of Rajasthan

For lunch, we went to a traditional Rajasthani restaurant to try authentic local food. We were served a huge Rajasthani thali with dishes like dal baati churma, gatte ki sabzi, palak paneer and Gulab jamun. The food was delicious and gave a true taste of Rajasthan’s culture.

Ending the Trip with a Beautiful Sunset

In the evening, we visited Karni Mata Temple through a ropeway ride. The temple is situated on the mountains and offers a full view of the city.
After the darshan, the sun slowly started setting and the city looked even more beautiful. At that moment, words honestly felt unnecessary. It was one of those views that you simply sit and feel. Away from noise and busy life, the city gave a sense of peace that is hard to explain.

For me, Udaipur is not just a city  it is a feeling of peace, beauty and royal charm.
